It still retains its 2-inch IPS touch-responsive screen from previous versions, being capable of reacting to hand gestures to zoom in and out, select focus, and other required operations by the user. Low-light performance was not great (expected, this seems to be happiest on nice bright outdoor days). REVIEW – I’ve always wanted an “action camera”, but spending hundreds of dollars on something that I would use only occasionally in my life seemed like a poor choice. Each battery gives you about 90 minutes of use at 1080P resolution, and only 60 minutes if you’re filming in 4K. Also, it provides various modes to inspire your creation, such as time lapse, still photo, slow motion, burst photo, self-timer, loop recordings, etc.

Akaso Brave 4 Pro review | Digital Camera World Akaso Brave 4 Pro review | Digital Camera World

The voice control, touch screen, external mic input and overall quality of the footage at 30fps is superb. Depending on the conditions, SuperPhoto chooses one of these four effects to significantly improve your images. AKASO also acknowledge how not-responsive can touchscreen displays are when paired with waterproof cases, hence they compensated for this with the introduction of three buttons on top of the case to manually operate it if needed, and the buttons stand out with stainless steel springs for easier comfort when pushing those buttons for camera functioning. The AKASO Brave 6 Plus Action Camera is great for the moderately-exciting adventures I partake in (like paddleboarding, light offroading, snowsports, drone stuff). While I was reasonably impressed with the 4K 30p, at lower resolutions the quality does degrade quite rapidly – there was some distinct fringing in the Full HD 1080p shot on a sunny day, and the HD 720p was all but unusable. The zoom is another aspect that can be improved as despite being advertised as 8x zoom it’s, in fact, digital zoom and not an optical one. And it’s actually very easy to use – the navigation is not that different from the navigation of the Hero7 cameras. Taking a look at the remote, there are two buttons; a red photo button for capturing photos, and a grey video button for starting/stopping recording. We also need to mention that this is not only an action camera but also offers many other recording options. These have a foam sticky tape that is supposed to be sturdy once placed, but after trying it on a plastic surface and pressing down for some time, it didn’t feel sturdy at all.

I’ve been wanting to get an action camera that would go with me and the family on all of our adventures. It’s capable of recording 4k/60fps, it has excellent EIS, it supports voice controls, and comes with a really good touch screen. This feature is available for Video recording only and is useful for shooting scenes that have large bright regions and a dark foreground. The shutter button can also be used as an OK/Select button when you want to select an option in the Settings menu. The EK7000 cameras are their entry-level cameras, the Brave is the mid-range ones and the V50 are the pro action cameras. The following frame rates are also available with this camera 90fps available with 1080p, 60fps available with 1440p, 1080p and 720p, and 30fps available with all resolutions. The camera seems impressive, it certainly has the looks, and with plenty of accessories, it’s easy enough to mount to a bike or for that matter anything else you wish to attach it to. The key to a happy, full life is allowing that scared part of us to be seen and used in a way that contributes. The packaging definitely has a more upscale, premium feel which is where they are going with this new camera.

You will get the following self-timer interval to choose from in the Brave 6 Plus; 3 Sec (default setting), 5 Sec, 10 Sec, and 30 Sec. The most immediately obvious of these is probably the extra LCD screen on the front, which gives you a quick and easy way to film yourself. For this video, I zip-tied the AKASO Brave 6 Plus Action Camera to my roof rack, and set it to record timelapse at 4k, every 2 seconds. Caz is the flighty Libran, bringing harmony to the family through crystals, meditation, and downward dogs (and the odd glass of wine at 5pm). The Akaso Brave 4 Pro doesn’t cost too much more than the ultra-budget options from the company like the Akaso EK7000 Pro, but it still packs in quite a bit more in terms of features. However, the Hero White actually produces images and videos of pretty much the same quality as the Mid-Range AKASO, so there’s that. We noticed that in comparison with the AKASO V50 Pro SE, the EIS did not end up in washed-up footage but it retained the original saturation of the recordings (for the other model you had to color correct the footage via software to compensate for this feature). You will however not be able to use the touch screen once your camera is housed in a waterproof casing.

While the build and handling of the camera installed the impression of quality when it came to the first test of the video the results were shocking. The accessories are mostly good: the various mounts and clips feel like sturdy plastic, and held up well during my review period. With well-rounded edges for easy grip, you can easily carry it on your pocket or backpack given its compact size, but the rounded edges can certainly make you feel secure about grabbing the camera to operate it, even when your hands are wet or dirty – something you surely expect out of a premium action camera these days. Still, if used primarily for motor vlogging, it seems to me you’re going to need an external mic regardless of which camera you use, correct?
