For the Critical Thinking questions in Section 1, you will need to prove you can understand and evaluate arguments (for example, by identifying assumptions or flaws in an argument). Bmat tests a number of high level skills, such as critical thinking, problem solving and constructing arguments, all of which you will have been developing during your school studies. Please note your application will not normally be considered by the admissions tutors for Medicine (A100 and A101) or Biomedical Sciences if you have not taken the BMAT.

BMAT | Cambridge Assessment Admissions Testing

The BioMedical Admissions Test (BMAT) is used by universities around the world to help select applicants for medical, dental, biomedical and veterinary degree programmes. There is a limited number of medical school places so you need to score as high as you can to give yourself the best chance of gaining entry. The exam provides a demanding test of relevant intellectual skills and knowledge – as is appropriate for admissions to university courses attracting high calibre applicants. The BMAT is a university admissions test required for entry to NTU Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine and several UK medical schools (only four of which are recognised in Singapore – Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial and UCL). They are used to decide which candidates to invite to interview and sometimes who gets the final offer.The book also contains over 100 real personal statements from successful medical school applicants, both at A level and graduate entry. Includes examples, practice questions at all levels of difficulty and substantial answers and explanations. If they are not, they can follow Cambridge Assessment Admissions testing's advice on how to become a test centre.
