Canadian release was originally announced as the same day as the US issue, but the decision by the CBC to schedule a two-month mid-season hiatus led to the release date being pushed back; ultimately, it was released before the CBC was able to air the final two episodes of the season. But they and we soon meet a ship-wrecked survivor named Vicki, who’s kept under the thumb of the menacing Bennett, and the even more menacing Koquillion, as the TARDIS crew tackle the mystery surrounding them. Where serials have been entirely or partially recreated through animation, such as The Power of the Daleks (entire serial missing) and the 2017 reconstruction of Shada (the unshot studio scenes), the animation has been rendered at 1080p. The alternative versions of Enlightenment and Planet of Fire are presented in 16:9 widescreen rather than the original 4:3 aspect ratio.

Unfortunately, Marco Polo and The Crusade are both on the list of ones that are less likely to be animated because of the sheer number of characters and costumes that would need to be designed. In the UK, all versions included a redeemable Ultraviolet copy of the first five episodes of the series. Season 12 was reissued, with near identical packaging and contents (the only changes being that the set was marked as a second edition on the bottom of the J-card and slightly altered artwork on the spine), in 2020. A seperate mini-collection of the anthology which contains Foreword by Hunter O'Connell, A Message to Panda by Paul Magrs, Burnyard of the Cryptopyres by Tyche McPhee Letts, A Tour of La Kraw el Sol by Hunter O'Connell, Ode to a Broken Appliance by T. Including scripts, exclusive unseen BBC production files, the Radio Times 20 th Anniversary Special and other rarities. This set is the most jam-packed release yet, with hours and hours of new and exclusive material across nine discs.

Occasionally, material from the standalone DVD releases of serials is moved to a particular season release if it is deemed a more appropriate fit. There are also minor variations having to do with technical glitches that occurred in the Region 2 discs but were corrected in time for the Region 1 release ( The Caves of Androzani, Remembrance of the Daleks, Complete Series Two box set). The set designers needed to create the Animus character, a disembodied alien underground presence, and of course the massive planet Vortis, with the painted night sky filled with stars and moons. BBC bosses plan to colourise certain stories from the Hartnell and Troughton eras (1963-69), for broadcast next year. Certainly when you consider the mount of work that will be needed on season 1and 6 , the two remaining sixties seasons with most of their original episodes, plus the work n I'd put more money on The Crusade being fully animated to complete Season 2 than the Space Pirates and the five episodes missing of an unpopular story to complete Season 6!

Most notably, Coming Soon trailer for at-the-time forthcoming DVD releases of serials have been moved to the disc for the preceding story. The Regions 2 and 4 releases of the Special Edition of Remembrance of the Daleks was originally only available as part of The Complete Davros Collection box set, but was later re-released on its own. Each set contains every serial from the season in question, along with most of the previous bonus content produced for the DVD range. Hopefully we will see two or three of the above Seasons, Special and Movie released on Blu-Ray as well.

Season 20 stars Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor, with Janet Fielding as Tegan Jovanka; it also features the introduction of Turlough (Mark Strickson) and the departure of Nyssa (Sarah Sutton). In contrast, classic-era stories have had very limited release outside of the English-speaking regions. All I know is, the lead Optera sounded — and I’m not joking — exactly like Razor in World Enough and Time.
