About this deal

With constant frame rate problems, lots of bugs and glitches, a low resolution and blurry visuals, and some truly awful pop-in that ruins gameplay, the Switch edition is a poor port that really doesn't deserve that 'Definitive Edition' name.

Because I can tell you right now, as someone who bought and played all of these games on their original release days, and many, many time since, that they were 100% not like this.As you've probably heard by now, or perhaps even experienced yourself, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition really isn't great. That doesn't mean one of you is wrong and the other is right, and it doesn't mean that whatever reason you to find to discredit a review is valid or worthy of consideration. KillerBOB I probably would have been fine with the game had it been just the original games ported, but be real, its not. Like it was mentioned before, LA Noire on Switch was disgustingly handled and I don’t see this being much better. I'm not sure where you are but there's the Black Friday sale in Europe starting tomorrow (almost a guarantee in the US and other territories I'd say) and I'm sure there'll be some sort of Christmas / end of year / holidays sale in a few weeks.

As things stand, this is a very, very long way from 'definitive' — this isn't the way we want to remember these games. It has been on sale in that time, and in the end we still wouldn't really recommend it unless you can pick it up discounted. However, as it turns out, Rockstar must have been almost fully divorced from reality to let this port release in the state in which we've reviewed it. There are so many amazing games out there and I just feel the cancel culture of the world is spilling over into gaming now based on flaws on the surface without digging in.

Do people expect it to look like gta 5 (I want it to look alittle better then the original and handles better). Talking Point: Has Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition On Switch Improved Since Launch? We decided to have a quick look at the Switch games with the lowest Metacritic user reviews of all time, finding that fans have only given six games (out of 2158!That doesn't excuse Take Two from pushing this out, but I have seen many outlets for other consoles and PC say it's not up to snuff there.

I'm happy that there's been some improvement, but in my humble opinion, the performance of this game at launch is downright inexcusable, and I think they STILL should be working on improving the performance, the last update was quite a while back. Even if they just put the original PS2 games on a Switch card they would have been better off rather than releasing them in this state.Worse than this, however, are the other vehicles which tend to materialise right in front of you, giving you virtually no time to avoid them, a problem that directly affects the traversal of the open world here, and one that drains almost all of the fun out of driving — something you tend to do quite a lot of in GTA. I suppose this was initially a no brainer - just whack out a low effort 'definitive' edition and watch the zeros roll over like always. The originals didn't not at all play like this, pop in was there, but nothing like this and nothing that would interrupt game play. you'd think the "definitive edition" would have at least been able to make the games run smoothly, at least fix the problems that were the result of pushing the hardware to the limits. There's just no excuse for a glorified PS2 game (and it still LOOKS like a PS2 game) to not run at a constant 30fps on Switch if not 60fps.
