The best levels borrow their gameplay from Battle Mode, but the majority of stages – about 20 in all – exist in a strange world between an adventure game and an RTS, making combat tedious and repetitive. Knights, space men, pirates, underwater treasure hunters, ninja, and pretty much anyone else that would want to kill something has had a LEGO set at some point. Arbitrary Headcount Limit: You can have, at most, twenty minifigure units, one hero, and four special or vehicle units.Play through 6 distinct storylines to create your base, buildings, team and then deploy your troops for battle!

Covers Always Lie: The boxart shows Biff alongside the King and Captain Brickbeard, suggesting that he would be the leader of the Astronaut campaign. Unit pathing can at times be an issue, while the lack of difficulty settings means the AI leans towards the lower end of Average difficulty and could certainly do with some improvement. Offering a fairly decent selection of maps (though not overly large in size), the multiplayer support for Lego Battles offers nothing overly new to anyone who has ever played multiplayer RTS games in the past, but is a nice addition and certainly complements the Lego set customisation so anyone with a few friends can re-enact there very own fantasy Lego battles on the DS. To add some more strategy to the game beyond the somewhat weak AI, you of course have the multiplayer option. The Alien army is supplemented with Exo-Force elements, with the Builder, Laser Trooper, and Grav Runner being derived from 8112 Battle Arachnoid.Still, adventure stages never feel terribly difficult, a fact that does not help their already simple and linear nature. While they are weaker, they generally form the majority of a combat force and can be used either as light attack or as guards.
