The A-side being the appetizer to the meal that is MM… FOOD is cool, but it feels a lot like the main course. Infectiously groovy and irresistibly catchy, the track Hoe Cakes showcases DOOM's ability to tell vivid stories layered with food symbolism. It also gets hurt by the meandering middle, which isn't bad to listen to but just kind of interesting that it's there.

I literally slept on this record for about six instances in my existence, last night I finally heard this record in it's entirety. The haunting production and poetic lyrics paint a vivid picture, leaving a lasting impact long after the song ends. A few more records that sound this good and people will soon be putting Metal Fingerz up there with Prince Paul. I say "finally" not because of the 5 year gap so much as the fact that there were a lot of LPs released in that time that were not credited to "MF DOOM" (Metal Fingers albums, Viktor Vaughn albums, two releases with MF Grimm, and of course the ubiquitous Madvillainy). The album ends with the rap 'Kookies' which, unfortunately, doesn't appear on the original beat due to copyright reasons.The album peaked at number 17 on Billboard 's Independent Albums chart, and number 9 on Heatseekers Albums chart. I think this problem might only be for the normal vinyl color edition though because people have only posted pictures in their reviews of that pressing (even though the listing is this version).

You have to catch how they move in to talking about how rappers are edible, and churn out garbage that are easy to dispose of and throw away. The playful melody, expertly flipped sample, and DOOM's intricate wordplay combine to create an unforgettable auditory experience. Quality of packaging is great, though I will admit that the sleeves themselves are quite tight so it’s difficult putting the records back in, but very minor issue, perfect release imo! Shout out to Atmosphere because, Rhymesayers did it again, putting their name behind another masterpiece - proving that hip-hop is more than rhyming words together over some synthesized drums.As always, some very creative production with many samples taken from monster movie soundtracks, old superhero storytelling LPs, plus some other unrecognizable sources. At this point the show hosts throw in DOOM's "Fig Leaf Bi-Carbonate", which features machine guns firing at popping bubbles on top of a Godzilla-cum-RZA soundtrack before reintroducing DOOM.

It's also counterbalanced with some of the best songs MF DOOM has ever done -- "Potholderz,""Deep Fried Frenz,""One Beer,""Rapp Snitch Knishes," etc. With its jazzy, laid-back production and seamless chemistry between the two artists, this track leaves listeners completely entranced. Anyway, I'm going to rate this album based on how I like it now instead of trying to average it with how I felt then, that just seems kind of weird now.This album is more in the vein of De la Soul and KMD than any other solo album DOOM's done, and dope in its own unique way.
