About this deal

The colour is bright enough to have plenty of pop and the consistency helps it flow into places where water would naturally accumulate and cause rust. I then painted the trims with Leadbelcher and Retributor Armour , leaving the lower sections in a dull iron while the showy gold draws attention by framing the head of the model. The trim was all painted with Castellax Bronze , which has a lovely dirty tone that complements the nature of the XIV Legion brilliantly. I think this was my favourite result out of all of the Legions I’ve painted, and I’m now sorely tempted to do some more Death Guard!

Review: The Army Painter Greedy Gold Colour Primer - the best

To get a clean bright blue to represent the Legion at the end of the Great Crusade (before being covered in red became more than just a hobby for the XII Legion as the Horus Heresy progressed) I applied a coat of Talassar Blue to each shoulder pad. The best Citadel paint for bright rust spots This Underworlds warband was inspired by ‘80s animation like Masters of the Universe and The Black Cauldron. They’re designed to be painted over a white or off-white base coat and stain the higher surfaces while pooling in the recesses, giving instant shades and highlights. There are very few paints in ranges with a good color (not including silver) to highlight a true gold. Once that was dry I darkened the shoulders even further with a coat of Black Templar , before painting all of the trims with Balthasar Gold giving the worn iron a dull brass contrast. TBH, all you need to do is mix a nice and strong yellow gold Vallejo paint with a few splashes of their fleshtone shade ink to mix your own up to get the same rich and dark gold colour.Full tracking of what you have read so you can skip to your first unread post, easily see what has changed since you last logged in, and easily see what is new at a glance. Usually when I paint a Legionary it can take hours per model, but with Contrast, I could get all of the base colours down on in less than ten minutes plus a little drying time and still have loads of extra time left to think about highlights and other special effects like weathering and blood splatter. A friend in my gaming group, who paints for competitions and, effectively, apprentices under a local Golden Demon winner, suggested I first base in a medium green, then layer copper over that, then layer gold overtop that. Retributor Armour: Best Gold Metallic Paint? [Review]

It means that you can use them with a regular brush, but you’d rarely want to because they’ll be much too thin and the coverage will be poor. To emphasise the character of the Death Guard , who famously eschewed removing the scars and stains of battle from their army, I flicked some Nazdreg Yellow and Snakebite Leather at it off of the bristles of a brush. The trim for the model was painted with Retributor Armour and I used the brightness of the Celestra Grey trimmings to draw attention to the upper part of the model. It’s a rich, chocolatey colour with great coverage that is my number one choice for dark brown basecoats.
