The impressive thing about the soundstage is the accuracy in which the music is delivered and the sense of space the instruments have. I have been playing these headphones for days now and I really hear the highs getting a better sound. Treble - This is where the biggest issues lie, starting with the 4k-5k area this is where there is a distorsion peak at 4. After EQ-ing the 4-5k region the sound is much more coherent and enjoyable, but then the treble around 8-10k or maybe even higher becomes another issue one which I have yet to EQ properly.

The Evo, unfortunately, has that cheap kind of plastic feel and as such feels slightly fragile and brittle. Sadly, it’s clear that there will be much more people using them with model average calibration profile, and its accuracy may be not as good as with more expensive models due to the lack of manufacturing consistency leading to varied frequency response between pairs.Few pairs have low-end skewed to one side, few have unbalanced highs, but most of the time the discrepancies stay within 2dB. The Sansui AU-D5 amp give some welcome warm to this rather bright earphones too, when listening to classical this is really a great headphone, we heard every details of violin player including breathe and bow microdetails scrubbing texture, the acoustic guitar chord is full of sparkle and we feel the fingers pulling every rope. Simply a plastic wrapped with a hard cupboard holding the HD681 which i understand because of considering the budget. We don’t do any stress tests and very few models are used for longer than a couple of days, so this is a fairly subjective score. In terms of comfort the only real upside is the fact the new EVOs come with an extra set of velour pads.

The AKG pads are a must for any of these Superluxes, so 662 will probably end up both more expensive and to whatever extent inferior in sound quality. But don’t be afraid since there are lots of aftermarket pads that will fit these headphones, such as the velour replacements sold by the manufacturer. Also it's very cheap headphone so no big deal if it's get broken Also it's comfortable headphone, lightweight, gentle clamping. EVO pleather pads seem to be a bit different to the originals and coupled with the new design of the headphone, they seem to be slightly more comfortable.SO today is time to make a little review of a not so well keeped secret chinese monitor headphone Gem. They have some thight clamping force and the self-adjusting system seemed to work fine, only not really smooth.

With the velour pad installed these are an extremely comfy set of cans with just the right amount of clamping pressure. Bass isn't very round and heavy, even if it dig deep and low it isn't the type of bass we feel, tough with a powerfull amp it come to life and have more weight, this headphones will not be appropriate for IDM or rap because of the airyness presentation of the soundspectrum. So when working with HD 681 and the model average calibration, keep in mind that bass and treble may not translate as well. I simply added one pad inside each cup, fitted them right through the opening without needing to open the cups up, using my finger to slide the pad under the velour pad edges. For example a headphone with higher energy in the upper midrange and treble will generally be colder sounding. This isn’t a huge problem though, I’ve only noticed it in a handful of tracks and none of those were mixed particularly well. Unfortunately I realise the ear pads are quite hard and if used a long time it will become sweaty (tropical country ). Step forward to the Superlux HD681 EVO review… the evolution of the original 681 which offers a stylish new design.

For the most part HD 681’s perform well at delivering consistent frequency response to a wide variety of listeners.Hey, I just bought the HD681 B as a temporary replacement for my Grados and I would like some suggestions on some light EQ through Winamp (or some 3rd party EQ sofware if needed) as the sound is unbearable at higher frequencies. There is also a downside to this tho which is that they leak a good amount of sound, so they might not be suitable for public quiet places such as libraries, but they won’t bother someone sitting in the same room as you (in opposite sides). The HD681 EVO are available in black or white, I received the black pair which, as I said before, it looks sleek. That means that they’re plenty loud when plugged in straight into a laptop, even when used with calibration. You can also read on the black on black letters “professional monitor” which would let us know that these are good for studio monitoring.
