Douglas second love was psychology since she loves understanding the motivations and drives of people. It wasn’t the main focus of the book really so can see some people wouldn’t really think much about it but I noticed it straight away.

A chance meeting with a girl who bears a startling similarity to the lost twin sees Abi's life take an alarming turn in another direction. The Sisters is about Abi who, after losing her twin, Lucy, in a tragic accident the previous year, tries to start her life afresh in Bath. Ben è matto come un cavallo, quasi uccide Beatrice e poi anche Abi quando salta fuori tutta questa storia e poi tornano a vivere felici e contenti, nonostante Bea quasi moriva in terrazza. Very quickly, through what appears coincidence, she becomes friends with Bea, a vivacious character who bears a strong resemblance to her dead sister Lucy. But if someone knows what really happened to Sophie that night then now’s the time to find out – isn’t it?

The narrative style is perfect for this type of tale – creeping up on you, bright sunshine and seemingly happy people but underneath it all a distinctly menacing feel – Claire Douglas builds the tension absolutely superbly, changing the game with almost every other chapter and keeping you firmly off kilter. This is a good "mess with your head" novel that has you wondering what is coming up next chapter by chapter, you can't just dip into this book, you need to devour it. Não lhe dou duas estrelas porque passei de facto grande parte do livro a gostar do encaminhamento da história enquanto tentava perceber quem era realmente o vilão e porque se comportavam todos de forma sugestivamente bizarra. The synopsis sounded great and it being a British psychological thriller I couldn't wait till this book came up on my list. Then things start to happen that starts Abi on a journey of unsettling behaviour and mistrust of others.

As the tension builds, the story becomes more and more edge of the seat, producing shocks and surprises at every turn. The fact that Abi and Lucy were twins and Bea and Ben are twins is rammed home so often, as are their physical characteristics such as the hazel eyes and ski-sloped noses, which are wrinkled with alarming regularity. After a tragic accident, still haunted by her twin sister’s death, Abi is making a fresh start in Bath. Things go missing; including some of Abi’s precious letters her sister wrote to her during her life. This is the 30th book, but considering Alex has survived "Kill Alex Cross" before, chances are he survives this one. He of the long legs, the lanky but substantial body, hazel eyes, freckles and tousled hair – just your average, every day, ordinary looking guy.
