Of course, we hope you’ll always smile down benevolently upon your humble servants here at HalloweenCostumes. You'll want your headband to be loose enough to easily take on and off, but tight enough so that it won't fall off. I’ve mentioned before that we love we love matching family Halloween costumes, but that I was sure that last year would be the final time my kids would be on board.
They decided they all wanted to coordinate, decided on the costumes, came up with ideas for the other family members, and I just followed along. Well, lo and behold, this year they came up with a matching theme for a family Greek mythology costume. Percy’s personality is laid-back most of the time and loves to wear simple outfits such as his orange Camp Half-Blood shirt, denim shorts, brown leather armor, and the necklace of his camp. There’s something about all being in the same color and style that really ups the wow factor, even if the costumes themselves aren’t super elaborate.
We spent the majority of the time and effort on the kids’ costumes, but there are a few details from the Poseidon and Athena costumes that were really easy to do and create a cool effect. Henry went through a major Percy Jackson phase (highly recommend the illustrated version, BTW) and it inspired our whole family costume for Halloween!
This Grecian heroine was at the top of my list for costume ideas, but I had no idea how to sew a purple dress from scratch and the replica ones for sale are way over my budget! After all, there’s nothing quite like the bond between two combat hungry lovers who’ve just fought through a legion of enemies inside the Colosseum!
