I kinda knew that it was going to have a 'fate can never be changed' kind of ending. If everything was going to change nothing would have remained the same and there wouldn't have been any guarantee that Yi Chan and Cheong Ah would have ended up togther just because they were dating during high school.

Chrystall, Margaret (14 November 2011). "Book review: Shaun Ryder's life-story". What's On North. Archived from the original on 12 May 2022 . Retrieved 13 May 2022. The documentary was first broadcast on PBS in the US in 1988, before it was aired in the UK. Of its influence on ‘Step On’, Ryder told Uncut: “Where did ‘twisting my melon’ come from? A Steve McQueen documentary I saw. Apparently, he used to walk into his director’s office and argue. And there was this guy doing an impression of him saying, ‘Oh man, he’s twisting my melon’. So I thought, ‘Oh, I’ll just have that.’ It’s a great phrase, innit?” Twisting My Melon: The Autobiography is named after a catchphrase Ryder exclaimed during the opening moments of " Step On". [6] The phrase itself stemming from Steve McQueen. [7] The book details his early upbringing in Salford, dropping out of education to become a postman and discovering drugs in the process. [4] [8] He discussed forming Happy Mondays in 1980, their period on Factory Records and success with their third studio album Pills 'n' Thrills and Bellyaches (1990). [8] Ryder admitted that this period was a "bit of a blur. I can actually remember the Sixties better than the Eighties," attributing this to having a thyroid condition. [4] He referred to himself during this time as a caricature, akin to Alice Cooper. [5] Just listening for the 784,654th time....and it's just perfect in every way. Just incredible. The only reason it was remade was to scoop up a boatload of money from a more modern and accepting audience. But it is a completely different song than the other one that sounds slapped together in a few takes without a thought for the meaning. The comedic timings in this drama were perfect. After all Choi Hyun Wwook is there in this drama. I loved Ha Yi Chan blurting out random english words in the middle of the sentences. lol It wouldn't be the only time "lemon" has become "melon" in the music world. There was a group called Blind Melon which debuted in 1992, and we can presume that their name is a tribute to blues legend Blind Lemon Jefferson. JOHN KONGOS: When I heard the Mondays’ version of “He’s Gonna Step On You Again”, I actually did call the cops because Shaun twisted my melon, man, ha! But I soon grew to love his very different version. People come up to me now in Arizona and say: “I didn’t know you did a cover of the Happy Mondays song!” So it’s all cool. According to an on-line review of the Happy Mondays' 1990 album "Pills, Thrills, and Bellyaches", it would seem that they made it up. The reviewer refers to the line as "still baffling": Now, depending on the Happy Mondays' musical influences, the line could be a play on the standard blues theme "squeeze my lemon". What does "squeeze my lemon" mean? Draw your own conclusion from this stanza from Led Zeppelin's The Lemon Song:

First of all, how did Cheong Ah convince her father to let her marry Yi Chan if he was going to sent her abroad to study and never let her return? They should have never shown that scene where her father said this if they weren't going to answer this. Jewison said: “He (McQueen) would say, you’re twisting my melon, man, you’re twisting my melon. You’re getting me all mixed up… he used to say to me. He talked so hip I never knew what he was saying half the time.” And did Yi Chan recognise Eun Gyeol? I kinda understand that they left this for the audiences' interpretation and why.. but I would have liked an answer to it.

Younger Ha Yi Chan acted by Choi Hyun Wook was again a bonus because we know he's great at portraying this funky outgoing guy vibe. Chemistry of Ha Yi chan and Cheong Ah was also so mushy and natural that made me root for them all along... Ryeom and Seol in ah also did a convincing job at their roles... haven't seen Ryeom before but he was good at acting all those frustrating scenes when he had to face the mess of his time travel. "Shaun Ryder Biography, Songs, & Albums". AllMusic. Archived from the original on 3 October 2021 . Retrieved 12 May 2022. Shaun Ryder autobiography out this week". Louder Than War. 15 September 2022. Archived from the original on 27 February 2021 . Retrieved 13 May 2022. She not only stayed alive, she turned her hard beginnings around, became self sufficient, successful and someone with respect for herself. She didn't let the naysayers and judgers stop her. She's the one sitting in the drivers seat at the end.

And how and why did Viva become a time traveller? This is another question left open. But it would have been better to leave him as a mysterious man who helped them. The cast did an amazing job is portraying their characters. I had seen Ryeoun in 18 Again only, where he had a minor role. But I liked him there. I liked him even more here, he has the potential. I had set my eyes on Choi Hyun Wook since 25-21 and Weak Hero Class 1 and I loved him here too. But my only comlpain, which is unrelated to the drama, is that he does only the same kind of roles. His roles in all the dramas that I've seen him in, including this, is very much similar. Seol In Ah also did a good job but.. I was kinda annoyed at her though out the series, idk if it's her fault or the character's. I loved Shin Eun Soo in this. This is the first drama I've seen of hers. When her character was introduced at first, I thought she had stiff expressions. But as we began to explore her character more, I liked her more and more. I also liked the actors playing Eun Gyeol's parents as adults. a b c d Hattenstone, Simon (15 September 2011). " 'Shaun Ryder in the Happy Mondays wasn't me. He was a caricature' ". The Guardian. Archived from the original on 18 April 2021 . Retrieved 13 May 2022. But the show belongs to Paul's brother Shaun, one of the most loveable rogues of modern times. Singing lines like "God rains it E's all on me" and the still baffling "Your twisting my melon man" on the timeless "Step On" (the song to which every indie kid learnt to dance to) he talks his way through with a swagger matched only by Ian Brown." I also think that they should have added scenes with what happened with Yi Chan and Cheong Ah after the accident and Eun Gyeol left.

What I loved the most in this drama is Yoon Cheong Ah, the bunny girl who is literally the word "cute". A deaf girl who has not received much warmth growing up but she isn't all weak and tries to protect herself in whatever ways possible. I love how they chose the right actress Shin Eun Soo for this role because her smile is honestly all pretty and as worthy as Eun Gyeol talks about in some scenes. This song captivates me still, after 50+ years. Takes me to the deep South and the poverty of some who lived thru truly hard times. And the powerful spirit of a poor young girl being abandoned to her future with only a red dress and her wits to keep her alive. a b Long, Canilla (18 September 2011). "Twisting My Melon by Shaun Ryder". The Times. Archived from the original on 7 October 2021 . Retrieved 13 May 2022. This show has a lot of music, dramatic comedy (often overdramatic with exaggerated expressions but trust me it will make you smile), two cute couples and a bunch of high schoolers who would apparently form a band and great friendships (usual to such youth dramas). a b c d e Dingwall, John (9 October 2011).
