Things like moving through water, falling from one tile to the next, and placement of enemies at the start of the scenario are not detailed enough and are therefore very open to interpretation.

It’s very easy to feel connected to the characters and to feel like you’re *in* this world thanks to the fantastic components and Jerry Hawthorne’s excellent writing.The campaign is split across eleven chapters in the storybook, ‘Sorrow and Remembrance’, with each chapter representing one game.

Until this mouse's next turn, all mice on the same space as this mouse count as 2 successed instead of 1 when defending. The art is great, the theme is something I can get behind, and the story is enjoyable enough to follow along with. I was really surprised how the game would shift from feeling like we were doing terribly to being on top of the cheese. This is just one example of a multitude of times that I found myself scratching my head trying to decide what exactly the game intended for me to do. There's no other game quite like it so I think it definitely earns a spot in any gamer's collection.However, if you are looking for a game that you can just pickup and play, this probably isn’t the game for you. Over the course of the game my friend and I have got to know each other better and it’s given us a reason to get together regularly and provided us with some of the in-jokes and references that the best friendships are based on. Mice and Mystics is a boldly innovative game that thrusts players into an ever-changing, interactive environment, and features a rich storyline that the players create as they play the game!
