When Samsung went through the features of this monitor with me, it outlined how the C24FG70 was aimed at competitive gamers, while the C34J79 on review here was more aimed at more casual gamers. To me, that suggested the C34J79 might suffer from ghosting, motion blur and high input lag, something that’s a VA panel trait. Despite not having a 144Hz refresh rate, the C34J79’s native 1440p resolution at 100Hz provides a great gaming experience. If the stand is too limiting for your tastes, you can opt for a VESA compatible aftermarket mount for the C34J791. The downside is you have to use an adapter for this setup to work, although you will find that among the accessories in the box. Display and Performance The curve on the Samsung C34J791 is noticeably tighter at 1500r when compared to 1800r displays. The brand’s engineers intended this monitor to enhance the immersive feel when playing games or watching movies. The edges also feel closer to your face, making the peripherals easier to see or notice. There was an very slight difference when cycling through the ‘Response Time’ options in the onscreen menu, with ‘Standard’ offering a slightly slower response than ‘Faster’ and ‘Fastest’, but there was no perceived overshoot ghosting in any modes, so I was able to use the monitor set to ‘Fastest’ without having to worry about ruining the visuals. I should also point out that, unlike the Samsung C24FG70, there’s no brightness cap in Faster and Fastest modes; the C34J79’s brightness remained untouched at 317cd/m2.

The Samsung C34J791 is a Quantum Dot-equipped monitor, but its color performance falls short of our expectations. The sRGB gamut coverage reached an average of 99% or 75% in Adobe RGB. Samsung specified a 125% gamut volume for this monitor, but the screen still looked saturated correctly and vibrant enough for a mix of uses. FAQ for Samsung TV. You can install the most suitable windows driver for your monitor.

Your Samsung OLED monitor comes with Panel Care functions to prevent screen burn-in issues. These include Pixel Refresh and Pixel Shift. The Samsung C34J791 is an excellent all-around monitor for productivity, gaming, or even home and office use. Sure, the price is a bit steeper than the usual, but the flexibility of the monitor and its dual Thunderbolt 3 connectors make it worth every penny. The aesthetics of the product was recycled from the C34F791, but the attractiveness of a white and silver chassis doesn’t easily expire. And then there’s the resolution, which hits the heights at a gloriously sharp 3,440 x 1,440 resolution, delivering an unquestionable advantage over cheaper 2,560 x 1,080 screens. SamsungC34J79 review: Gaming performance

Samsung’s Odyssey Ark Gaming Monitor is full of exciting features such as the Gaming Hub, Eclipse Lighting, and Active Ambient! You can use the Pixel Shift function on your Samsung OLED monitor to fix image issues. This will refresh the screen’s pixels. And because the C34J79 uses VA panel technology, its contrast ratio is much higher than your average IPS display. Indeed, in my testing I measured it at 2,250:1 contrast ratio, which translates to incredibly lifelike imagery. The 34in curved monitor doesn’t disappoint when it comes to its brightness levels either, reaching an impressive 317cd/m2; that’s fine for use indoors, even in bright, sunlit rooms.Samsung presents gaming at its finest with the Odyssey G8 Gaming Monitor! We’ll walk you through how to start using your monitor. This isn’t a good choice for people who like to hop between colour profiles, with a handful of presets on offer from the simple – simplistic, even – OSD. Dig deeper and you’ll find a choice of five colour temperatures (we measured Cool 2 at 8825K, for example, while Normal hit 6360K), but this isn’t a monitor created with colour obsessives in mind.

The massive cabinet is then supported by one of Samsung’s signature stand designs comprised of a circular base with a metallic surface accent and a slim upright. Pivot and swiveling are not included in the ergonomics of trhe product, although you can tilt and adjust the height according to your needs. The stand is beautifully engineered and provides both height and tilt adjustments, plus if you want to wall mount it you can use the VESA mounting kit included in the box. You might want to do that, as well, since in addition to its wide, 21:9 aspect ratio it’s a jolly big screen, measuring a substantial 34in across the diagonal; Samsung also introduces a dramatic 1500R curvature here, the idea being to provide a more immersive viewing experience than a flat monitor. There are two main categories for curved monitors: those built for gamers, and those designed with business professionals in mind. But what if you want the best of both worlds? A monitor with a fast refresh rate, low input lag, fast response time, good viewing angles and fantastic colour reproduction? Step forward the C34J79, a 100Hz curved gaming monitor that combines Samsung’s quantum dot technology with gamer-friendly VA panel technology. Lastly, the monitor also supports AMD FreeSync, meaning if you own a compatible AMD-GPU, you can enjoy tear-free gaming. There’s no Nvidia G-sync variant available of the C34J79.
