I really wish they would change this formula. Sometimes, it is possible to keep a romance book on a fun/emotional/hot level with clever plot twists that don’t involve a total change of the mood of the book. When Charlotte and Reed meet again it definitely gets interesting, I laughed at Charlotte she was so funny without trying to be, she certainly could put the stuffy guy in the bow tie in his place and she did so over and over. I loved the love-hate relationship Charlotte and Reed had going on. Reed couldn't escape her even if he wanted to it seemed his Grandmother loved her and she had been hired to be the family's PA.

h (heroine) rating: 3 stars. Luca. I found her contradictory at times, but she was sweet. Just an okay 3 Stars for me. Anyway, Ms. Incompetent was embarrassed after being thrown out by the hero (gee, I wonder why) and because she is the heroine, she meets a wonderful old lady who offered her a job because grandma apparently has a good feeling about her. *sigh Charlotte manages to inviegele into his life and just gets comfortable. Their cat and mouse verbal sparring gets the tension palpably high and chemistry sizzling in NO time. The Hero(es): Reed Eastwood - runs a successful real estate/property management business with his brother and grandmother. Reed is aloof, acrimonious and assertive. He has become cynical since he and his fiancé broke up. As she stalks Reed over the interwebs, she finds out that he is a high end realtor and books a showing with gag jobs. Surprisingly, Reed accepts her application and schedules her for a viewing where he reads her the riot act over wasting his time. Charlotte breaks down and ends up stumbling into the bathroom where lo and behold, Reed's grandmother gives her comfort, and a job- as Reed's assistant.

This was a fun book. Charlotte was a great characters, she is quirky, spontaneous and pretty blunt. Reed is your typical brooding rich guy who has baggage and a nasty Ex. I like that Charlotte brings out the best in Reed and helps him because spontaneous and fun. Reed's Grandmother Iris was my favorite thing about this book, she was nosy and pushy and made me laugh more than once. If your looking for fun romance with some drama and a HEA, this book might be for you.

So with that out there, I mainly enjoyed the book. Took the romantic idea of a love note and held on to it. Lynn Barrington was perfect for Charlotte, she brought out her quirkiness and did her inner monologue so good. And Sebastian York.... Need I say more... ok well fine I'll say a little more, I LOVE his voice but I will admit there is a very small part with a British character in this book and Sebyo doesn't do accents... I mean sometimes he does, it's odd cause if the character has 5 sentences, 3 of them have no accent. I've heard him do this before, he just doesn't keep up with the accents but that's ok with me cause it's Sebastian York. This book has such a rich archive of this kind of precious dirty talk that you can use it as a guidebook to being sexy. Do you remember those little Furby key chains? The vibrating ones that McDonald’s gave out in their Happy Meals years ago? …

Notes

We did a buddy-read with my book soul-mates, Funda and Sanzida and we had great fun reading this book!

The story was funny and entertaining, and I like the secondary characters in their lives. One of my favorite aspects in the story was the "special" list. Naturally, her list was eclectic and the source of entertainment. I also like how this story had an unexpected element that added heart to it. I don’t usually like epilogue, but here it was a good closure and also touching. Griffin Quinn was my childhood pen pal, the British boy who couldn’t have been more different from me. Over the years, through hundreds of letters, we became best friends, sharing our deepest, darkest secrets and forming a connection I never thought could break. Any criminal offence which is perceived by the victim or any other person, to be motivated by hostility or prejudice, based on a person's disability or perceived disability; race or perceived race; or religion or perceived religion; or sexual orientation or perceived sexual orientation or transgender identity or perceived transgender identity." He says one may expect to lose parents, even at a young age as his mother, but losing a best friend and bury them was unthinkable and unbearable. Eventually, and only when it seems Char might prefer another bloke, Reed roused from his pity party enough to pursue her right all the way to France.Charlotte is having a really bad time of it. Catching her fiancé cheating at the office left her broken up and jobless. In need of money, she goes to sell her wedding dress, but can only get store credit. When she eyes a beautiful gown, she not only falls for the gown, but for the man who pinned the most romantic note ever inside of it. Curious to know more, Charlotte did some research and located the real estate executive responsible for the note, and arranged for a showing of a fancy apartment she could never afford. So, here’s the thing with this book, I HATED the Heroine. Oh my god she is so annoying, rude and there are so many times I thought to myself, who does this? Heat level: Moderate/Low. They have some alright tension, chemistry, and scenes -- but not so much it takes away from the story. Definitely a "slow burn" in regards to heat, because they don't even kiss until ~63% and then nothing else until ~85%.

There's a reason Sebastian York is so beloved by audiobook listeners. His narration as standoffish and closed off Reed was perfect. Lynn Barrington is a new narrator to me, but I thought she did a fantastic job as Charlotte. Both her male and female voices were clear and distinct and she delivered all of Charlotte's snark impeccably. I think the only minor issue I had (which I run into sometimes with audiobooks), was that for both narrators, there were a few times I wasn't sure if something was internal dialogue or actually spoken out loud. Overall, this was a great listen and is one of my favorites from this writing duo!

Please note:

Tired of over-using their thumbs typing up details of that day’s events, people have taken to recording their thoughts and sending unsolicited voice messages to unwitting and unwilling recipients. Like me. I think sometimes it is just the willingness of the reader to let all these circumstances happen and go along for the ride. I decided to go with the flow and mainly enjoyed the read. There were laughs, questions about fate and the idea of whether it is worth loving someone even if it is only for the night, week or forever. As you may have guessed, I am of the school where loving is always a plus and even the pain after does not outweigh the joy you experienced in the time of loving. Bu kitapta daha önce hiçbir kitapta görmediğim bir teklif sahnesi var ve ben inanılmaz güldüm, tam hayallerimdeki gibi bir teklif, bayıldım! :D :D Separation: Not really, because I never really considered them "together" enough to be considered a "separation".
