I have been in such a bad reading slump but I finished this book in one day because of how amazing it was. The way we see him care for Farley and his daughter, Hazel is so lovely and made him even more endearing. He’d been featured on a TV special that showcased a great group of up-and-coming comedians and had even opened for some huge names. Unfortunately the latter half of the story loses its way, and all that lovely momentum starts to fade.

It honestly had me all misty eyed at the end of the book because Meyer and Farley are just so perfect. We spend a large percentage of our lives together, but I take care to avoid too much casual touching when it comes to him. A former stand-up star himself, Meyer has helped the trajectory of her career take off since he began managing her… Since he became her closest and most treasured friend, in the process. And I loved how Meyer was kind of pining the whole time for Farley and his character was just THE BEST. It totally could be my current mood because I’ve been having a really shitty reading month and I’m in somewhat of a slump… or it could have been the book.
