Description

The cover (designed by artist Shepard Fairey) is a graphical interpretation of the Beresford Hotel, Glasgow, Scotland. Making things sound like a chirpy, bad mp3 isn't a good thing for the music itself--it robs it of much of its power (part of that power comes from the dynamic range) in the process.

When in line with the preferences you have shared with us, provide you with information or advertising relating to our products or services. Overdubs, stereo placement, space around each instrument, cymbal decay and all of the other anorak details that I love are all here. I won't labour on, as there are some fantastic comments already about the technical presentation of this set.

There are things on there that I never heard before but they just smoothed it out too much for my taste. Edit: After more careful listening and perhaps with a bit of prejudice I have to re evaluate some of my standpoints. In addition to a two-disc set, the album is also available in both "deluxe" and "collector's" editions with a DVD featuring varied live content from the previously released Led Zeppelin DVD (2003).

Then and now, Led Zeppelin looms larger than life on the rock landscape as a band for the ages with an almost mystical power to evoke primal passions. While this box is not bad I would only recommend it if you are not a huge fan of Led Zeppelin and you want the best songs on a newer release. On 6 November 2015, the album was reissued using the audio from the band's 2014–15 remaster campaign. From what I can tell after a cursory look at the Official Dynamic Range Data Base the new Led Zeppelin CDs and High Def files are quite compressed with the lowest level of most of them unfortunately being down in the RED and the average only in the orange. They introduced various attempts to solve the problem but when the digitized signal drops very low the samples are anything but reliable. The songs included were chosen by the surviving members of Led Zeppelin, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones, and represent eight of the band's nine studio albums. Caity politely walked me through some things to try, including the final step of adding a small piece of blutac to add weight to the arm of our cheap, entry level record player. On the plus side, it took so long that I got the second issue that corrected the packaging problems of the original issue.

from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's web page on the band's 1995 induction It's rare that a group can truly rock today's world, but the arrival of MOTHERSHIP, the new 4LP Led Zeppelin compilation-with the re-release of The SongRemains Same on CD, DVD, AND LP and a concert event reuniting Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, and John Paul Jones-qualifies. Yeah you could quibble about omissions and some inclusions, but compilations will NEVER please every fan so expect to have a view of your own. Not that it doesn't sound good, just not great, this is the most EQ'd of the vinyl releases, sound much weaker than the others. All image and audio content is used by permission of the copyright holders or their agents, and/or according to fair dealing as per the UK Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988. The definitive Led Zeppelin compilation, Mothership gets treated to a remastered reissue supervised by Jimmy Page himself. The guitar at the opening is so compressed it sounds as if it has a 2 inch thick body made of cardboard. According to the Official Dynamic Range Data Base Mothership suffers from overly aggressive compression.
