Description

The OptiPlex 960 introduced a new style of cases, made with recyclable plastics. The first two models, namely the 960 and 980 were based on BTX, However the rest of this series was built upon the standard ATX and DTX. From the x020 and onwards, Dell switched over from a standard 24 pin power connector to a proprietary 12v only 8 pin connector for better power efficiency. The DT and SSF models from this series used standard TFX and LFX power supplies, respectively (the LFX power supplies do have a nonstandard depth of 240mm, however), while the MT models used standard ATX power supplies. build. The RX 6400 low does not need any additional power from the PSU and can rely solely on the power delivered by the PCIe slot (75W). The 3D and gaming benchmark scores show the low-powered Radeon RX 550 in the OptiPlex 7060 SFF is far more capable than the integrated Intel HD Graphics 630 in the HP EliteOne 1000 AIO. The under-30fps numbers in the high-resolution Heaven and Valley tests show it's not necessarily great for gaming, though. As I noted before, the selling point for a dedicated GPU in this machine is to get extra video outputs. Accessing the memory slots, unfortunately, requires removal of the 3.5-inch bay and the optical drive, making it a slightly drawn-out process, but such is the confines of an SFF tower, and it still beats servicing most AIOs. The optional 802.11 wireless and Bluetooth connectivity is absent in this tester.

Potential models that may be able to support Windows 11 include: Intel H370 chipset (3060 / 3070), Intel Q370 chipset (5060 / 5070, 5260 / 5270, 7060 / 7070 / 7070 Ultra, 7460 / 7470, 7760 / 7770). This slot has limited bandwidth compare to x16 slot. However the performance difference is not huge – around 10% when comparing the same GPU. Due to their compact design, the OptiPlex 3020, 5020, and 9020 Small Form Factor (SFF) versions have limitations on the size of graphics card that can be installed. These models have limited space for a GPU, so the size of the graphics card is restricted Dell OptiPlex 780 Desktop Details | Dell". 2010-02-09. Archived from the original on 2010-02-09 . As we mentioned, the dwindled dimensions have affected external connectivity: the larger 7060 variants have four full-size USB ports on the front, but the Micro model has just one USB3 connector, and it loses the SD card reader as well. Core i7 will give better performance but the difference is not substantial enough to invest in a better GPU. Power Supply Unit The Power Supply Unit (PSU) must be powerful enough to cope with your system. If you install a dedicated GPU, make sure that your PSU is able to supply the extra power. USFF chassis was released separately and resembles the OptiPlex 9xx case, Does not support Quad Extreme

( June 2022) Dell OptiPlex 7060 SFF has four RAM slots and supports dual channel memory configuration. This is sufficient for almost any use case and especially in situations where the workload calls for more RAM. On the other hand Dell OptiPlex MT models will support the full 75 W draw from the PCIe slot. GPU profile (height) GeForce GTX 1650 4GB GDDR6 – For all Dell OptiPlex Mini Tower (MT) models you can use this 75 Watts GPU which does not require an auxiliary PCIe power connection. At your own risk, you can run a more powerful GPU if you use a SATA to 8 or 6pin power adapter.Less useful to the Optiplex 7060 Micro, or at least less usable, are its bundled peripherals. These are as cheap and nasty as freebie mice and keyboards can get: the mouse is uncomfortably proportioned and of such poor build quality that it rattles when shaken, while the keyboard has mushy membrane switches and undersized keycaps. Monitor height adjustment isn't hard to find on an AIO, and the OSS17 stand offers plenty of it. The real secret of this stand is its monitor rotation feature, something almost never found on AIOs. Thumbs-up for that. The DisplayPort (DP) is the most widely used digital interface for transmitting digital video and audio between display devices and PCs. It is good to see that the Dell OptiPlex 7060 SFF is featuring a DisplayPort 1.2. The post version is important if you target higher resolutions with high refresh rate. Although, ver. 1.2 is completely fine for most users, if possible, aim for the higher versions DisplayPort.

To upgrade the GPU of OptiPlex 7040 SFF, a low-power, low-profile graphics card must be used. Currently, the most reasonable GPU option is AMD's Radeon RX 6400 low profile. The Dell OptiPlex 7060 SFF comes with ten USB ports in total. Having more USB ports is always better, but also pay attention to the version of those USB ports. Higher version ports support faster transfer speeds. It is nice to see that the model has a USB 3.1 port. This interface is using 10Gb/s connection and it's very useful when you transfer big files to external drives. Video ports Dell sent us the second-lowest spec for the Optiplex 7060 Micro, which comes equipped with an Intel Core i5-8500T, 8GB of DDR4 RAM and a 256GB SSD. We initially had high hopes for this CPU: it's a six-core chip, which normally means formidable multitasking potential, and we've seen from the Optiplex 5060 just how much performance can be squeezed out of a regular Core i5-8500. 8GB of RAM is enough for non-workstation desktop duties, too.
