About this deal

Again as you'll see on the video below (I've set it to start playing at the appropriate time) you'll see that the steaming time is quite a bit quicker with the Pro Vs the Express, 72 seconds on the Barista Express to get 200ml of milk to 60C, and 47 seconds on the Pro, so a saving of approx 25 seconds there. I have used this machine quite a bit, as I have the other Sage espresso machines, and I love it, overall.

I do actually think that the Impress, being assisted, is what a lot of people actually think the Express and the Pro are, as many retailers list them as bean to cup machines. Low-pressure pre-infusion gradually increases pressure at the start and helps ensure all the flavours are drawn out evenly during the extraction for a balanced tasting cup. The other thing that I've seen many people saying about this, and the Barista Express, is that it runs at 14 or 15 bars of pressure, no… it doesn't… I don't know where people are getting this from, but all Sage machines are set to run at 9 bars, and I have tested this with a portafilter pressure gauge, it's definitely 9 bars. You have almost double the number of grind adjustments, or grinding steps, on the Barista Pro vs the Barista Express, at 30 Vs 18. I've given you all the info, so depending on your priorities you'll hopefully know at this point whether the Barista Pro is the right machine for you, or whether you'd be better going for separate machines, or for another integrated grinder machine such as the Barista Express Impress, which I think will soon become the biggest competitor for the Barista Pro, as I think so many people considering the Barista pro are actually looking for some assistance from the machine, which as I've said, you don't get from the Barista Pro. After these cut-off times we will still aim to dispatch on the same day if possible, but this is not guaranteed. You have the choice at checkout to select your preferred carrier with the following restrictions: Royal Mail First Class and Second Class (untracked) are available on packages up to 2kg and the cost is variable depending on the weight.

If you've read some of the chatter about this machine online over the past few months coming from across the pond (as it was released over there earlier than here) then you can ignore a lot of it, as most of it is wrong! We bring all our experience and passion for innovation to create automatic coffee grinders, who make the work of the Horeca professional easier. On the contrary, I also read about some issues with the Barista Pro: (1) boiler temperature is too weak to get the water to ~90 degree and (2) no cup warmer. I must admit i’d forgotten that the guidance (in the manual) is 25-35 seconds for optimum extraction; i tend to judge success by the pressure gauge hitting the mid-point of the extraction zone, pretty much the needle being vertical – so with the Pro you aim for around 30s extraction mark, is it that simple (too long needs coarser grind / too quick needs finer grind)? I discovered this when I received the demo model, people in the US appear to have made judgments about this machine without trying it, and they've mainly come to the wrong conclusion. The Barista Express has a pressure gauge, but the Pro doesn't, and I suspect the main reason it doesn't is that there isn't room due to the LCD display. I love the size of the machine, the size of the drip tray – which really is a practical size compared to some machines (including the bambino plus), and the weight of the machine, meaning it feels solid when you're using it, it doesn't slide around when you're locking and unlocking the portafilter as lighter machines do. The other issue with it having such a small footprint is it does move around when you're using it, but again this is something you just get used to. You swipe and touch the screen to select the coffee you want to make, and the machine takes you through the process and allows you to customize that particular coffee to your taste. Enter the captivating world of Markibar grinders, where coffee grinding becomes an effortless experience for your café.
