The Round Rock Operation Blue Santa program is gearing up for its 45th annual Blue Santa holiday toy drive. All you need to apply is to have a debit or credit card, to be over 18 years of age, and to be a UK resident.

On this day, volunteers from all over Austin gather at Blue Santa Headquarters and the North and South police substations to pick up and deliver the pepared packages for each sponsored family. Many of the children that police interact with only know Christmas as nothing more than a school holiday. This charitable outreach began in 1978, serving fewer than 20 families by delivering toys and food during the holiday season. As night fell on Christmas Eve 1976, San Antonio police officer, Tom Preston and a few of his fellow officers began what would become another warm tradition of giving in our city.In 1976, the Blue Santa Program was created to help bring holiday happiness to families and children throughout San Antonio.
