About this deal

Some clever level design and a clear talent for making me feel creeped out eased the frustration, but don’t present enough of a reason for me to recommend anyone put themselves through 15-20 hours of this. Every character in Hello Neighbor 2 is powered by a neural network AI, learning from the players, doing everything in their power to protect their gated community and its secrets. The game is played in a first-person perspective, and the player must aim a reticle at certain objects to interact with them or to throw or use a currently held item (for example, throwing a ball at a window or aiming a crowbar at nails to remove them). Not only has the neighbour changed his whole house around by adding a rollercoaster and about three more floors, but the game decides to throw you some really, really irritating ‘puzzle’ rooms. As the player explores the neighbor's house, they must not be spotted by the mysterious neighbor, or they will be chased down, and if the player is not quick enough to hide or escape, then they will be captured. As I mentioned earlier, sure, you can accidentally throw items whilst your hand is strangely poking its way through a locked door like a ghost, thus allowing you to losre things in the unknown and make them unreachable if you happen to press the wrong button. It meant you had to be careful with what you do with your gear and also remember what was where, just in case. So, for the first two chapters, where it’s you vs him, the game is surprisingly relaxed and kind of easy, other than the rather obscure solutions to the puzzles. There is a great game buried here, as long as the development studio fixes the problems currently plaguing it. Hello Neighbour is a stealth horror game about sneaking into your neighbour's house to figure out what horrible secrets he's hiding in the basement.

There's no catharsis, insight, or revelations waiting at the end of the ordeal, just a sort of uneasy malaise over what the images and environments near the end are meant to represent. This game was dropped onto mobile devices, swiftly deleted, and has not been acknowledged by tinyBuild as part of the franchise, despite their continued use of the Guest character introduced in this game. It is implied throughout the events of the game that most of Act 3 and the Finale is a nightmare occurring in Nicky's head and that his escape from the house signifies him finally coming to terms with his kidnapping as a child at the hands of Mr. Hello Neighbor is a game you persevere in due to sheer luck rather than any sort of actual skill, foresight, or cleverness. The game falls so short of its genre companions that it’s hard to recommend it to anyone, in spite of its beautiful aesthetic. Initially, it looked like a suitable, child’s game but the basic clunky graphics and frustrating gameplay soon wore thin and is no longer played. Peterson in disguise, and also has various class-based abilities at his disposal that can be used to confuse, trick, capture, or otherwise prevent the children from achieving their goal.
