A bonus episode—including an interview with the founder and artistic director of Fellowship for Performing Arts, Max McLean. I wouldn’t say that it was full of content, but there was definitely some things throughout it that weren’t necessary to add. This story brings a vibrant depiction of a woman “trying to live an authentic life while also caring for her family and pursuing her creative life” and passion.

Stories like Louisiana’s Way Home explores heavy content without the YA angst or offensive language or graphic violence of adult literature. Written after his wife’s tragic death as a way of surviving the “mad midnight moment,” A Grief Observed is C. Lewis allows us to see how this brilliant and passionate woman lived--and why she stole Jack's heart"--. Her surname is a reference to Lewis Carroll, the author of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass. We enter a very scholarly, literary world as soon as the book is opened and some of it was over my head. And the story unfolds from there as Joy sets out on a 10-year transformational journey that not only changed her life but also the life and work of one of our most beloved authors of the 20th century — C. Lewis” is a quiet, sensitive and singular story of an intellectual and deeply human relationship that grows slowly over time. Poet, atheist and communist, New Yorker Joy Davidman is an unconventional woman – and an unlikely partner for an English academic and theologian. The realness of the characters seeps through the pages and gives shape and voice to an author so many idolize. Lastly, the endpapers of the book feature a map of Oxford which I found to be a really nice touch, since the Narnia books are known to have maps.

Struggling with an unhappy marriage, her writing career and health, and matters of faith, Joy Davidman begins writing to well-known author, C.We might know Lewis primarily as the author of the “Chronicles of Narnia” and good friend of JRR Tolkien, but he was also a most influential commentator, explainer, of Christianity in such works as “Mere Christianity” and “The Screwtape Letters. Born Jewish, but an atheist, and later even a communist, she found God one night waiting for Bill to come home. Baring that, this was a poignant story of friendship and love, of happiness found, and of knowing that at any time when life seems to be at its lowest ebb, there is hope.

It is a long novel (like 500 pages, I think) so you have to be ready to commit if you want to finish it. I think this is a failure on the author’s part, and not of Joy Davidman herself because I think that a woman who could so completely capture the heart and affections of C. The two begin writing back and forth, exploring and deeply connecting through their words to each other and over their spiritual beliefs. S. Lewis, a well known older author living in England, and Joy Davidman, a young poet, mother, who was trapped in a marriage to an alcoholic and philanderer. Lewis podcast, as well as extensive bonus material not previously released, including an additional episode not released on the original podcast.Upon completion and this might seem a bit silly, but Becoming Mrs Lewis is definitely a book that made me feel like for just a few hours, Joy and C. With her cousin’s encouragement, she considers traveling to England, to immerse herself in its history and literature.
