About this deal

The jurors' prejudices and personal experiences influence their decisions of whether the man is guilty.

John Fiedler as Juror 2, a meek and unpretentious bank teller who is easily flustered, but eventually stands up for himself. Alongside “To Kill a Mockingbird” and “Death of a Salesman”, two other mid-century dramas, “12 Angry Men” became a staple of American civic entertainment. Eleven jurors are ready to make a snap decision of guilty and head home, but one dissenting juror has a reasonable doubt. A 'guilty' verdict seems a foregone conclusion, but one member of the jury has the will to probe more deeply into the evidence and the courage to confront the ignorance and prejudice of some of his fellow jurors.

The major twists are originally 10 jurors vote for "not guilty" due to self defense, Jessica votes "unsure" and another juror votes "guilty". Scott and Cicely Tyson), in the same socially conscious vein; but this book gives Reginald Rose his long-delayed credit for leading the way. Twelve Angry Men is a reflection on human nature, on the temptation to swallow ‘facts’ without questioning them, on the difficulty required to go against the grain. His judgment of humans is pretty damning, given that at the beginning of the play only one of the twelve jurors is willing to use skepticism to think beyond their prejudice and convenience. But what gives 12 Angry Men its enduring interest, its intellectual sharpness as well as its “twist,” is that Fonda’s character is by no means sure the accused is innocent.

Mamet is also the author of Writing in Restaurants and On Directing Film, both available from Penguin. His observation of the twelve men was that "their dramas are powerful and provocative enough to keep a viewer spellbound. The jurors discuss the testimony of the boy’s downstairs neighbor, an old man who claims to have heard the boy shout “I’m going to kill you” and had seen the boy run down the stairs after the murder. Al margen de la situación judicial puntual mencionada que plantea la obra y de la actitud crítica al sistema. The first animated homage to Twelve Angry Men was Hanna-Barbera's The Flintstones, also TV's first prime time animated series. We see a variety of “types” who bring prejudices and biases to the table in forming their opinions and decisions. In 2011, the film was one of the top 20 most screened films in secondary schools in the United Kingdom. The lone holdout is Juror 8, played by Henry Fonda — the only Hollywood star in the cast, who produced the movie along with Reginald Rose himself.
