You can overconsume on the weekend if you wish, but then divide what’s left by 5 for the days in the week and you’ll be surprised by how low it is. It comes across that James genuinely does want to help people live their best, healthy lives without getting sidetracked or derailed by all the confusing nonsense in the fitness industry. The language this book is written in is kind of "myth-busting" in style- there are jokes about how people follow fads, intermittent fasting craze, keto and similar. You can't turn around in modern society, or go on the Instas or the Tik Toks or Twitterbook without someone offering you their personal advice on fitness.

The advice, although I'm sure well meaning, seems a little gung-ho in places and some downright strange - making eye contact with strangers in the street and refusing to break contact until they do? He also offers key tips for gym regulars and anyone who struggles with exercise too, and although a lot of this went over my head, it started to make sense. He speaks my language, which, for the record, isn't ENTIRELY f-bombs, because my vocabulary is comprehensive and multifarious (and I obviously have access to Thesaurus. Smith has struggled with body image issues and briefly used anabolic steroids before ceasing after experiencing negative side effects and concerns about his future health. Also strange how in Feb '22 he had 900k followers then bang when he was about to appear in TV he had 1m followers in May '22 growth if 100k in less than 2 months. In his own crude and vulgar way James Smith goes about dismantling a locker rooms worth of fitness and health myths. He uses his own experience to reset your outlook and goals in life, and helps you to see what success really looks like.

He bought a copy and read it on holiday and while he may have got some funny looks for his poolside choice of reading, James discovered many new insights about the perimenopause and menopause that he knew would really help his female clients in their quest to reach fitness and weight loss goals. The 103 third parties who use cookies on this service do so for their purposes of displaying and measuring personalized ads, generating audience insights, and developing and improving products. Anyway, so I followed him for a while, and then I joined his academy, and was rocking it, but I'm a lazy wagon-falling bitch and so this is my kickstart to get back on that freaking wagon and ride it into the sunset. However; I found out very fast that even though he wrote the words, it sounded like forcing a 12 year old to go read in front of his class.

You listen and listen to so much rambling you switch off and fail to acknowledge any parts of the audio that may actually be of interest. This is a good book with a good amount of information which helps debunk a lot of myths that abound about health, fitness, and diet.

A lot of the book was rehashing stuff that I was already familiar with, having followed him and suchlike, but that's to be expected. So if you want to go back and refer to the chapter on vitamins, you have to take guesses at which one this is. What it all comes down to in losing weight, fat, getting healthier, lowering your BMI etc is just going on a calorie deficit diet.

I've participated in diets, attended slimming clubs, shared recipes, toned down my favourite foods into healthier alternatives, and sacrificed the food I enjoy. All this book really is, is a 6 hour long listen about how privileged his life is that he doesn't give a rat's ass what you think. It’s not only incredibly information, myth busting everything I ever thoughts, but James’s voice throughout just emphasises a healthy lifestyle is more then about food and exercises but the environments and people around us. I would like to read a book that goes into that topic as the main focus rather than just a small chapter. I checked out his Insta profile and if I’d done this first I probably wouldn’t have bought this book.

It’s getting to the root of why you always wear black; why you get undressed in the dark; why eating the foods you love make you feel guilty; why you’re afraid to step into the gym; why your confidence is at an all-time low; and how all of this is having a negative impact upon all areas of your life, relationships and happiness. He gives facts without losing me in the science, his analogies are so clear, and there is not an excess of boring examples - it’s such a great balance of info. I’ve read non of them from start to finish except one book, the Steve Job Biography as I’m a fan boy. I will probably have to get the book and read it to fully understand everything he talked about because it was so hard to listen too while walking. Other than a few more other minor details I disagreed with I think it was a very great, simple way to explain calorie deficits, macronutrients, etc!
