Description

The six part series “Thorne”, first broadcast on Sky One, is based on the first two novels in the series Sleepyhead and Scaredy Cat and I was thrilled with how it turned out. Aside from the wonderful David Morrissey, who has always been the actor I wanted to play Tom Thorne, the series featured Aiden Gillen, Eddie Marsan, Natascha McElhone and Sandra Oh: an amazing cast! Lazybones – It’s only 10 days since Douglas Remfry’s release from prison, having served seven years for rape, and now he’s dead: naked on a bare mattress in a grubby north London hotel room, his head hooded and his hands tied with a brown leather belt. And when a second sex offender is found dead, DI Tom Thorne knows he has a vigilante on his hands… Thorne is a British crime drama television series, based on the novels of author Mark Billingham, that was first broadcast on Sky One on 10 October 2010. [1] A single six-episode series, starring David Morrissey in the title role of Detective Inspector Tom Thorne, was broadcast at 21:00 on Sundays until 14 November. [1] As well as Morrissey, the series also stars Aidan Gillen, Eddie Marsan, O-T Fagbenle and Lorraine Ashbourne in supporting roles. [1] The series comprises two three-part dramatisations of the first two Thorne novels, Sleepyhead and Scaredycat. Sleepyhead, directed by Stephen Hopkins, previewed in full at the BFI Southbank in London on 4 October 2010, followed by a Q&A session featuring writer Mark Billingham and actors David Morrissey and Eddie Marsan. [2] The central character has continuously featured in the vast majority of his works except in the novels titled in The Dark and Rush of Blood. It his novel sleepyhead, Billingham writes that if the writers want their readers to care about the character, the first thing they should do is to care themselves, and as such he has imbued Thorne with a lot of his personal characteristics. From the Dead – It has been a decade since Alan Langford’s charred remains were discovered in his burnt-out car. His wife Donna was found guilty of conspiracy to murder her husband and served ten years in prison. But just before she is released, Donna receives an anonymous letter containing a photo of her husband. The man she hates with every fiber of her being seems very much alive and well. DI Tom Thorne becomes involved in a case where nothing and no one is what they seem.

The next book by Mark Billingham is The Wrong Hands and will be released on May, 23rd 2024. It is the newest book in the Detective Miller Series.Billingham has received nominations and awards related to all aspects of his various careers. What's That Noise (which he wrote and presented) won the 1995 Royal Television Society award for "Best Entertainment Programme", [9] while Knight School was nominated for the RTS's "Best Children's Drama" award two years running. This book continues to deliver the dank and creepy atmosphere Mark Billingham is known for. Thorne is especially frustrated in this book because the killers in question seem to know exactly what the police will do. Other Book Series You May Like

One of the killers is caught after a failed attempt on the life of the son of another victim. He confesses to his crimes, but refuses to identify his partner. Thorne decides to free him in an attempt to force the other killer to come forward. Good as Dead (Little, Brown & Company, August 2011), ISBN 978-1-84744-419-6. After graduating with a degree in drama from the Department of Drama and Theatre Arts, he helped form a socialist theatre company, Bread & Circuses, in Birmingham. Bread & Circuses toured with shows in schools, colleges, arts centres and the street. [3] In the mid-1980s he moved to London as a "jobbing actor", taking minor roles in episodes of TV shows Dempsey and Makepeace, Juliet Bravo, Boon, and The Bill. [2] [4] After playing a variety of "bad guy roles such as a soccer hooligan, drug addict, a nasty copper, a racist copper or a bent copper", he claimed that he had become disenchanted with acting and that the emphasis was not on talent, but on looks.
