Many limited editions of the PSP were bundled with accessories, games, or movies. [106] [107] [108] There were 1,370 games released for the PSP during its 10-year lifespan. Launch games for PSP included; Ape Escape: On the Loose (North America, Europe, Japan), Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower (North America, Europe, Japan), Dynasty Warriors (all regions), Lumines (North America, Europe, Japan), Metal Gear Acid (North America, Europe, Japan), Need for Speed: Underground Rivals (North America, Europe, Japan), NFL Street 2: Unleashed (North America, Europe), Ridge Racer (North America, Europe, Japan), Spider-Man 2 (2004) (North America, Europe, Japan), Tiger Woods PGA Tour (North America, Europe, Japan), Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Remix (North America, Europe), Twisted Metal: Head-On (North America, Europe), Untold Legends: Brotherhood of the Blade (North America, Europe, Japan), Wipeout Pure (all regions), and World Tour Soccer: Challenge Edition (North America, Europe). The serial port was modified to accommodate a new video-out feature, making it incompatible with older PSP remote controls. On the PSP-2000, games only output to external monitors and televisions in progressive scan mode. Non-game video outputs work in either progressive or interlaced mode. USB charging was introduced and the D-Pad was raised in response to complaints of poor performance [51] [52] and the responsiveness of the buttons was improved. [53] But noticeable scan lines aren't the only issue we've found with the new PSP screen--the expanded color gamut of the screen isn't nearly as breathtaking as we would have hoped. In fact, the new screen is also unnaturally augmented. The expanded color gamut does make colors notably more vibrant, yes, but it does so at the expense of white balance. When compared side-by-side to the PSP-2000, the PSP-3000's screen adds a tinge of yellow to neutral colors, most noticeably white tones. as seen on the Nintendo DS and DSi) makes investing in a case as much a necessity for the PSP as it is for an iPod or iPhone.

Overview: The PSP's first revision really got it right. It comes with two times more RAM than the original model in addition to a brighter and more responsive screen. Also, it has a video out port to display to a TV. Also, the PSP 2000 (and 3000) have some of the console's best looking limited editions, so look out for those too.

As you can see, aside from the PSP Go, there aren't a ton of obvious differences between the handheld's various hardware iterations. But just because each console's specifications and features are more subtly different doesn't mean each model is without a unique set of pros and cons. Haynes, Jeff (May 8, 2006). New to the PSP 3000 is the built-in microphone, located just below the screen. It can be used for online communication, be it within a game or for the PSP's built-in Skype application. The advantage of having the mic integrated into the body is that you can use it with any standard pair of headphones. By contrast, the PSP 2000 required a special headset for communicating online. The scan lines (this is the last time we're mentioning it, we promise) aren't something that many gamers are likely to notice – and most of the people who do notice it get used to it after a bit. If you find an extremely good deal on one or the other, go with the cheaper model. Otherwise, the PSP 3000 will be the console of choice for most people.
