Is there any difference in performance between these models for just the Freeview aspect or are they just the same inside (and software)?

The specification here is basic but well implemented, and Manhattan's new styling is a nice improvement on its boxy designs of old. The box has an Ethernet port – there's no Wi-Fi alternative – but it's not harnessed by delights like catch-up, remote scheduling, Netflix or streaming from DLNA servers (similarly, a rear-panel USB port is for firmware upgrades and not multimedia purposes). g. used for editing Favourites) could incorrectly say ‘select channel’ when it should say ‘deselect channel’ and vice versa. Occasionally when holding the Left or Right buttons to quickly scroll through time in the TV Guide scrolling would unexpectedly stop. It claims to upscale SD programmes, I'm not sure that the picture on the SD recordings or live channels is as quite as good as when I watch them directly on my Panasonic TV, but then they are SD and not HD.However, bear in mind that even though the box and channels may be HD, however, if you run the TV display screen through a convertor, an adapter or an analogue TV, the image will no longer be in high-definition. If you want a TV box that will give you the best of the UK's telly for free, this is a great option for you. This varies enormously, particularly so when recording a number of HD recordings, whilst watching another HD recording. Please note that unless the update is considered critical, it will only be released over the internet and not broadcast over the air, so we recommend keeping your T3•R connected to your internet router by Ethernet cable. This Sunday I had to watch the final two hours of the recording, in 'real time' as I wasn't able to fast forward or skip beyond the five hour mark but I was able to play that same recording.

An issue that could cause the box to freeze and become unresponsive during the initialisation of the Hard Drive after boot. It’s fun to use, works fast and is thoroughly future-proofed, and yet there’s something that prevents us from getting too excited about the Manhattan T3-R. If you can’t connect your T3•R to your router using an Ethernet cable, the update can be installed using USB instead.Freeview Play is a way of accessing all digital free-to-air TV channels in the UK without spending anything beyond the cost of a set-top box. If a recording lasts for 1 hour, long pressing the skip button (forward or reverse) skips 10 minutes (or so) rather than 30 seconds, for a 2 hour program it skips 20 minutes (or so), 3 hours, 30 minutes and so on. Split recordings (normally movies in 2 parts) now show the time after the date so the first part can be easily identified. Although it has three digital TV tuners, only two can be used to make recordings while you watch a third channel. The Go To prompt can now be shown at any time when playing back a recording by pressing the yellow button.

When I pressed OK on the television remote control the television channels appeared on the left-hand side of the screen. And, for the cost-conscious who are potentially looking to move away from an expensive Sky TV package, we have Freesat TV boxes which offer a lowest cost way to watch subscription-free satellite TV. Both Manhattan and Humax will offer a 2 year warranty if you register the product with them within 30 days of purchase. It’s also worth looking at other products from Manhattan to see the typical features you can expect in products from this brand. Freeview's 85+ TV channels have 95% of the nation’s favourite programmes, so there’s no need to pay for channels you don’t watch.Whilst a recording was in-progress, it was not possible to resume playback, only play it from the start again. And the T2-R nicely whets the appetite for the company's incoming T3-R, which adds streaming bells and whistles. That's not a showstopper so I think that I may well try one, once I can find somewhere that sells them.

This is because it was processing all the failed recordings so that they could be indicated in the Recordings Menu. Previously this would take place after boot-up and could slow the system down if there was a lot to remove. I may be able to fast forward past the first BTTC race, but after this 'given time' although the recording shows four hours remaining I will get 'Your recording has ended' at (for example) only three hours into the recording, when I am less than half way through the seven hours.

Also known as Type T (for 'total') or Type W (for 'wideband'), these cover the entire range of signals used to transmit digital TV and continue to work even if there are changes to your TV signals.
