Description

While it's not the quietest model on the market, its noise output on lower settings is acceptable if you're in the same room. It's also not great at removing water from the air of cooler environments. We wouldn't recommend it for garages or conservatories. The energy efficiency of a dehumidifier is a vital consideration. You can get a rough estimate by looking at the power rating and using our running costs guide, but you also need to consider factors such as temperature, relative humidity and the type of dehumidifier. There are three primary ranges of EcoAir dehumidifier. The DD range ofdesiccant dehumidifiers contains models such as the DD122 Classic MK5. The domestic range contains refrigerant modelsincluding the excellent DC12. EcoAir also produce a set of industrial dehumidifiers, although we won't focus on these in this article. The EcoAir DC12 Mk2 is a relatively compact dehumidifier that's an affordable choice for small homes. It has a maximum extraction rate of 11 litres per day, castor wheels for easier portability, and a lower price than most refrigerant dehumidifiers.

Manufacturerslistcapacity in litres of water extracted per day. While this is a useful way to compare models, it's actually the maximum extraction at ideal temperatures and humidities. In practice, the machine is unlikely to reach these values the vast majority of the time. The EcoAir Summit S is a refrigerant dehumidifier with excellent water extraction at room temperature or above. It has a maximum extraction rate of 12 litres per day and two fan settings depending on your requirements.

The DD122FW-MK5 - or just the DD1 MK5 for short - is one of the most popular EcoAir desiccant dehumidifiers. It's a quiet model with aclassic design and range of useful features. Non-electric dehumidifiers use passive processes to remove water from the air. As you might imagine, this is much less effective than an electric dehumidifier. Most use some sort of desiccant, or drying, material. Some can only be used once, while others can be dried in the microwave and re-used.

Other features include an "overdry" protection mechanism, to stop the air getting too dry, and a spot function if you want to dry a specific area. It's also very quiet at just 34dB. The EcoAir DC202 is one of our favourite models from this brand. It's a refrigerant dehumidifier with built-in purification system to remove odours, allergens and dust mites from the air. The DC202 also has a powerful 20 litre per day capacity and large water tank, so it's truly an all-round machine. The PB-15-UK is a refrigerant dehumidifier. It's one of the biggest models we've reviewed, with a bulky footprint and a very heavy 17kg design. In other words, it's not the right tank for a small flat or home! With a 2 litre water tank, the Summit S is one of the smallest we've reviewed, so be prepared to empty it more often than other dehumidifiers. There is a continuous drainage option, but this often isn't viable for an in-home dehumidifier. The 11 litre maximum extraction rate makes it perfect for small homes or flats, although we don't recommend it for larger houses. With its digital control panel, we also like that the EcoAir is easy to operate, quiet, and energy efficient.
